"Managing values at natural World Heritage sites: boundaries and buffer zones" at Škocjan Caves (Slovenia)
The training workshop is planned to be held from 14 to 16 March 2007 in the headquarter building of the National Park administration of Škocjan Caves. About 25 to 30 site managers from South-Eastern European countries as well as international trainers will participate. The workshop will focus on the subject "Managing values at natural World Heritage sites: boundaries and buffer zones". It will address the issue of multiple designations of natural heritage sites (WH, MAB, Ramsar, etc.), and use the Škocjan Caves example to look at the existing boundaries and the proposed extension of the WH site, as well as the National Park's management plan. The workshop programme will include thematic discussion rounds and training sessions, as well as site visits. Travel to Škocjan Caves can be done via the airport of Triese (Italy) with a transfer time of about 30-60min by bus, or via Ljubljana (Slovenia) with a transfer time of about 1h30 by bus. |
